Racers Aiding Children In Need, Hoping to make a lasting impact for these Children and their Families thru Racing "R.A.C.I.N. for Hope" is a program founded by two local race teams, Kelly Racing and Smith Racing of Coleman Fl. It was developed specifically to bring joy and lasting positive memories to many young race fans that are seriously ill with life-threatening illnesses or injuries. It is the intention of R.A.C.I.N. For Hope to make a day to remember for these children; a day that has nothing to do with hospitals, doctors, or illness.. It is our hope that the next time any of our participating children have to go to the hospital to receive a painful treatment, they can pull out their pictures and memories of their day at the track with our drivers and their families to remember a time filled with nothing but joy and happiness. Much to often a child's illness affects the entire family, both financially and emotionally. Thru Racin For Hope we invite the child and their entire family to our local racetrack, for a day of fun at absolutely no cost to them. The child and family are provided with V.I.P. Pit Passes, food concession gift certificates, "R.A.C.I.N. for Hope" t-shirts and hats, a personalized gift basket, and many more gifts. The sponsored child will also be invited to climb into the Racin For Hope Race Cars, handed a checkered flag, and will have their smile captured on film. Each child will also be Honorary Crew Chief for the day and take a "Victory Lap" around the track in the tracks actual pace car, and lead the Racing For Hope Race Parade. Since these children are the true victors in their couragous battles. Many people have asked what inspired the development of this program. The answer is very simple, Weekend short track racers are just everyday people with an overwhelming competitive side, camaraderie that is unequaled in any other sport and a group of people with the biggest hearts you will ever find in one location. After much thought as to how we as racers could share our sport more closely with children and families in need, the concept of R.A.C.I.N. For Hope was founded. We soon discovered that there were many other race teams and drivers wanting to help and participate along side us to help bring these terrific children and their families a day to remember . Several off track activities are planned for 2003, including Car and Driver Appearances, Car Shows, Flea Market fundraising sales, and parades all to raise funds for this programs children and families.
